Your Local Marketer (ABN 59 540 836 113) is a sole-trader digital marketing consultancy based in Sydney, New South Wales, founded by Ashutosh Tandel. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through yourlocalmarketer.com.au and in the course of our work with clients.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. What we collect

We only collect what we need to reply to you and to do the work.

Information you give us

• Contact details, your name, business name, email address and phone number.
• Enquiry details, what you tell us about your business, your marketing challenge, your stage of growth, budget range, timeline, and anything else you include in a form or email.
• Website address, if you share it, so we can look at your current marketing.

Information collected automatically

• Analytics data, pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, how you arrived at the site, and how long you stayed. This is collected through Google Analytics 4 and is not used to identify you personally.

We do not collect payment card details through this website, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

2. Why we collect it

• To reply to your enquiry and answer your question.
• To prepare a proposal, quote or marketing recommendation for you.
• To deliver services you have engaged us for, and to invoice for them.
• To send you relevant updates about our services, only if you have agreed to that, and you can opt out of any message at any time.
• To understand how the website is used so we can improve it.

We will not use your information for a purpose unrelated to the one you gave it to us for without asking you first.

3. Who else handles your information

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run this business. Each has access only to what it needs:

• Netlify, hosts this website and processes form submissions. Form data is stored on Netlify's infrastructure, which may be located outside Australia.
• Google Analytics, website usage measurement. Google may store this data outside Australia.
• Email and calendar providers, to correspond with you and schedule consultations.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone. We will not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Because some of these providers store data overseas, your information may be held outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers with appropriate security practices.

4. Cookies and analytics

This website uses cookies set by Google Analytics to measure traffic and understand which pages are useful. These are not essential to the site working.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time, the site will still work. You can also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to stop your visits being measured.

5. How long we keep it

We keep enquiry information for as long as we may reasonably need it to respond to you or to continue a business relationship, generally up to two years after our last contact. Client records connected to paid work are kept for at least five years, or longer where Australian tax and business records law requires it. After that, we delete or de-identify it.

6. Keeping it secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. That includes using reputable providers, keeping accounts protected with strong authentication, and limiting access to what is necessary. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

• Show you what personal information we hold about you.
• Correct it if it is wrong, out of date or incomplete.
• Delete it, where we are not required to keep it.
• Stop marketing to you, either by replying to any message or by emailing us directly.

8. Making a complaint

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first at hello@yourlocalmarketer.com.au so we can try to put it right.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last changed at the top. If we make a significant change to how we handle your information, we will say so here.
